Hubby J and I are into a health kick right now. Let me tell you, we are dying. It makes me realize that we have been eating less healthy and how much out of shape we are. Thank God, hubby J decided to get into the gym with me. He's my exercise buddy... good motivator.
This post is going to be about hubby's first power class. (Funny!!!!) In a power class, we use barbels to work each part of our body... shoulders, biceps, triceps, legs doing squats, abs... so basically, a total body work out. Well, here was Mr. man... just completed his first power class.... hrrr hrr (grunt like a man). He says, "Honey, that was not too bad!" Deep inside, I was smiling. Little did he know that for the next two or three days, he will now know what hit him. How right was I! For those of you who do not know the effects of power class, if you use the right amount of weight, you will hurt in places that you didn't know existed.
The next morning, he complains, "I think I am coming down with the flu." I said, "Take a pain reliever and move on."
The next day, he calls me in the bathroom as he was struggling with his shirt and with his arms halfway up in the air says, "Can you help me take off my shirt?"
"Wow, that bad, huh?"
The next day, things got better but it was time to go back for another class. He, nevertheless, went and stayed the whole time.
I said to myself, "This is the man I married.... determined despite pain... a survivor."
It's funny how we do things expecting to get a different result. I went in expecting to get a physically healthier me and a physically healthier husband... well, I got that... and more! I got the chance to appreciate, once again, the man I married by seeing the things that attracted me to him in the first place.
In four months, we will post our pictures. We'll see how successful we are... a la Biggest Loser.
